All About Me

I have been working as a freelance artist and designer for many years and in that time have gained a BA (Hons) degree and MA covering the areas fashion, textiles and surface design. I have exhibited in numerous prestigious exhibitions throughout the UK and abroad.

I re-located to Dubai in 2001 and successfully continued my career as an artist where I was lucky enough to work with many fantastic interior design & architectural practices to produce artwork for numerous exclusive hotels, offices & palaces. Dubai is a bright, colourful and exotic city and this intriguing combination allowed for great inspiration. In 2010 I returned to the UK to set up my studio in Worcestershire.

Inspiration

My work concentrates on creating abstract surfaces through a variety of mixed media. My inspiration originates from sources such as architecture, satellite imagery, Islamic and arabesque pattern. I love the contrast of order and chaos. I am totally inspired by the abstract imagey found in nature. This I capture through photography to become works of are in their own right.

Artwork

The decorative surfaces I produce consist of materials such as canvas, wood, resin, acrylics, silks, handmade papers, plastics, wires, waxes and inks. I am interested in a variety of qualities involved in the creation and destruction of surfaces – regularity and irregularity, distortions of depth and surface through the use of transparency and translucency and the relationship between minimal form and complex surface texture. Recycling and reusing materials is of huge importance in my work.

Art & Interiors

My work focuses on colour and texture and enhancing the interior of a space. I work closely with architects & interior designers to produce artwork that can be incorporated into the architectural features of a space and displayed in innovative ways. Past projects have incorporated my work within screens, grouped as multiple artworks designed to create wall art features/installations. I have also designed original art, captured the selected digital image through photography and had it reproduced into large scale wall art or a wallpaper feature.
